We are very proud of Year 9 student Manya Chaurasia who together with three friends participated in the recent TIE Young Entrepreneurs competition, taking home the prize for the best business idea. TiE Young Entrepreneurships is a global programme aimed at fostering the future generations of entrepreneurs among secondary school students.

Manya’s team idea was a mental health app called “Buddy". Buddy aims to provide teenagers with a safe option to communicate and connect with like-minded peers/friends within the area, so you can share your feelings, under parental supervision if required. Your profile is completely anonymous to others, and no one (other than your parent and peer) will be informed of your details. You can chat with friends in the area for free, or you can opt for the premium upgrade, which allows you to chat with an experienced peer in the area, devoted to helping you, for a small cost.

Manya explains:

“Overall, for me TiE has been an amazing experience so far. It has broadened my mindset and made me think of ideas not many people have thought of before. I have met new people and learnt more about business ideation and how to go about converting your idea into a viable business plan including operating, marketing, human resources and financial planning in a competitive environment. I have also learnt the valuable skill of the art of presenting one’s idea powerfully.â€

Amazing work Manya and we look forward to tracking your team’s progress in the next stage of the competition!
